Zoo at Thiruvananthapuram

Zoo at Thiruvananthapuram

Over the years, the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo has developed into a centre for conservation activities and is a popular attraction for families in the city, especially during the holidays.
Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma founded this 55-acre zoo in 1857, making it one of the nation's oldest. With a collection of about 82 distinct animal species, it is home to a diverse range of native animal and bird species.
Visitors can investigate the snake farm and reptile house, which has both poisonous and non-poisonous snakes. The anacondas, which were given to the zoo by the Dehiwala Zoo in Sri Lanka in 2017, are the focal point of this section. Beautiful gardens, lakes, and woodlands encircle the zoo.
